Interview?! Me? Eeek

Monday, March 10th, 2008

There was a time when I could barely look at photos after I took them. (Ok, so I still get like that at times.) So, when Dale said he wanted to interview me, I shrieked. You mean, not only will people look at my photos, but they’ll also read about me. Yeah, I’m honored, but I don’t know what to think about it, much less what to say.

But I went along with it anyway. The article is up now, but I just can’t read it yet. I literally went to the page, peeked at a few words and then dived right back off the site.

So can someone read it for me and tell me what you think?

Thaaaaaaannnnnks!

Ok, ok…Here they are

When you’re a photographer and you have friends, it is inevitable that they begin to feel that a perk of the friendship is that they get photos. Eh, I guess it makes sense. They’re also always willing guinea pigs for my crazy ideas, so, I can’t complain.

But my friends will tell you that I will take photos of them, but they always have to hassle me to see it.

I’ve been hanging onto these photos since my birthday (only two weeks), but now I finally have a few spare moments to share them. I like these because they’re simple. Often, when I’m taking photos, I start worrying about lighting, angles, etc. While they’re simple, they capture a great moment in my life, at some of my favorite places (Lauriol Plaza, Tryst) and shared with some of the people that I enjoy the most. That’s always the most important thing. A few are below and the rest can be found here.

While you were sleeping

I’m not a morning person AT ALL. I hate mornings. Despise. But…I love shooting in the morning? Yes, that’s true.

I know, I know. It doesn’t really make too much sense. But, the way the light looks in the morning is just beautiful. In a city like DC, it’s just nice to look around when there aren’t many people awake. It’s nice to hear the birds chirping, be able to find a parking space and look at the monuments without a crowd.

So, these are the reasons why I ended up downtown by the Lincoln and Washington monuments at 6:45 am. My good friend Dale had just finished interviewing me for Scheme Magazine (more on this later), and I was inspired to shoot.

Here are some things I captured. You can see the rest here.
