Hi and welcome to the sevan blog.
I’m Shannon, your host. I guess this is where I’d insert a few things about myself. So here goes 50 38 things about me:
1. I’m a photographer (that one was way too easy)
2. I love tea and have about 3-4 cups a day. If I’m working it’s PG Tips or earl grey with half and half. Before bed, peppermint or ginger.
3. I’ve seen Dirty Dancing at least 500 times.
4. I love weddings and all things wedding related…
5. Although, I’m not terribly girly, well, sometimes I am. Actually, I’m a bunch of opposites…
6. Meaning, I’m an introverted extrovert, a spontaneous planner, a girly tomboy, a corporate artist, a fashionable geek, etc.
7. I have a younger brother and sister, meaning I’m the oldest.
8. I love all things creative. If it’s creative, I’m into it. If there is a way to make it creative, I’ll get into it.
9. I get very excited about random alleys. Seriously, I saw a picture of the coolest alley in Lisbon, Portugal and THEN found out that they have tons of alleys like that and well, now I’m going…
10. I love traveling. Europe here I come. Woot!
11. My big obsession with traveling also includes my love of languages. One day I’ll learn Italian and Portuguese to go along with my intermediate knowledge of Spanish.
12. One day I’ll also teach myself to play guitar. Who doesn’t want to play guitar?
13. There are actually millions of things that I want to learn. The short list includes, African dance, ballet, a slew of computer programs, piano, how to paint…
14. Speaking of paint, and doing a millions things…I want to be Gordon Parks when I grow up. That man was amazing. He was a photographer, a film director, a poet, a painter, a composer an activist and just all around amazing.
15. There’s no way that I can speak about great men and not mention Obama. Barack!
16. I’m a Google and Apple addict. They can do no wrong. Well, except for the Iphone…
17. I’m lost without my BlackBerry. As if the world needs another Blackberry addict.
18. I love quotes. Cliches, not so much. My favorite is from Maya Angelou: Pursue the things you are passionate about and do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you. All other tangible things will come as a reward.
19. Before I realized I wanted to be an entrepreneur, I wanted to be a lawyer. Then I realized that I’ve actually always wanted to an entrepreneur I just didn’t put a label to it…
20. I thought I wanted to be a lawyer because there are so many social issues that I want to fight for. But I’ve realized that I can do that with my camera…
21. The first one is the In the Light project, a photography project on survivors of child sex abuse. I am a survivor of child sex abuse.
22. I’m a Pisces. And everything I’ve read about Pisces is true about me…
23. Which makes me believe that you can tell a lot about someone by their zodiac sign.
24. Since I’m a pisces, it should come as no surprise that I love water and beaches. The best beaches I’ve ever seen are in Vieques. I could sit on a beach and stare for hours.
25. I really like games. My favorites are Taboo, Scattergories and Jenga.
26. I flirted with the idea of being a vegetarian. It was actually just a 6 month experiment. I don’t really eat that much meat to begin with, but there were some things that I missed. However, because of this trial run, I eat a lot healthier…sometimes.
27. Huge music fan. I could listen to new music for hours. And I do it often. Reggae is my favorite. And I’m desperately searching for dub records. Ebay would be too easy right?
28. I have a great mental jukebox. I can usually come up with a line or 2 from a song every time someone says a sentence.
29. I’ve enjoyed writing since I was younger. I used it as my outlet. I still write poetry sometimes, but it’s one of those things that I never share.
30. I love laughing and people that make me laugh. My friends and family are some of the most hilarious people that I know. It’s never a dull day.
31. I used to hate Seinfeld, but now I love that show. It’s the only thing on television that I’m sure to get a good laugh from no matter how many times I see the episode.
32. My other favorite tv show is Law & Order SVU, but I watch the original and Criminal Intent also.
33. My favorite words include: solid, win, sweet, hilare, score and woot! I guess you would have to hear how they are used.
34. Cafes are some of the greatest things ever.
35. However, I’d rather skip the smoke that these places sometimes brings. I’m allergic to smoke.
36. I wish there were more in my wonderful city, Washington DC.
37. I came to DC for college, but I’m originally from the Jersey shore.
38. My favorite foods include mac & cheese (it doesn’t matter how it’s made) and bread pudding.
